Bombardiers - Bombers
Les bombardiers sont moins connus que les chasseurs. Et pourtant, on oublie que leur contribution au conflit ont en partie joué sur le sort de la guerre ; les allemands ne croyaient pas en l'intérêt d'un bombardier à long rayon d'action et misèrent sur des bimoteurs tels que le Heinkel He 111, le Junkers Ju 88 ou le Dornier Do 17. Les alliés développèrent des quadrimoteurs toujours plus gros (Avro Lancaster, Consolidated B-24 Liberator, Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress puis B-29 Super Fortress) et portèrent ainsi la guerre jusqu'au coeur de l'Allemagne.
Bombers are not as known as fighters. But we forget that their contribution to the conflict partly explained the way the war ended ; the Germans did not believe in the advantage of a long range strategic bomber and preferred twin-engines medium bombers such as the Heinkel He 111, the Junkers Ju 88 or the Dornier Do 17. The allies developed four-engined bombers always bigger (Avro Lancaster, Consolidated B-24 Liberator, Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and later B-29 Super Fortress) and thus carried the war to the heart of Germany.
